The Municipal Council of Power Popular in Matanzas this constituted by 96 delegates, 3 their vacancies 52 men and 41 womanly. Brief review and characterization of the Matanzas Municipal Administration Council

The Matanzas municipality, provincial seat, founded on October 12, 1863, occupies a territorial extension of 117.39 square km, limits to the North with the Florida Strait, to the South with the Limonar municipality, to the East with the Cárdenas municipality and to the West with the Mayabeque province. It has a resident population of 162.4 thousand inhabitants, distributed in 10 Popular Councils, 8 urban and 2 rural

Due to its economic composition, the municipality mainly develops services and industry activities, as the main lines that contribute to the development of the social life of the territory. To a lesser but important extent, agricultural and livestock activity develops.

In addition, important centers of great weight for the economy of the province and the country are located, among which the following stand out: CTE "Antonio Guiteras" considered the most efficient power generation plant in the country, UEB Rayonitro, the Fuel Trading Company Matanzas with a deep water dock, UEB Conformat, Bellotex, Gardis, EMPAI, among others, which make Matanzas the main economic power of the province

The Matanzas Municipal Administration Council is the Governing Body of the local Administration, it has a collegiate character, it directs the economic and service entities of its subordinate level and its primary function is to promote the economic, social and sustainable development of its territory.
